25mm Mild steel discs

One of my products requires me to seal up the end of a 25mm tube, up until now I have just been using washers and filling the hole in with weld but as i use mainly tig i don't really want to dig out the mig to do this bit.

does anyone know where I can get some 25mm O/D by 1mm thick discs?

If you can't buy them from all the usual 'iron component' suppliers that have been mentioned on this forum eleventy-billion times, find a local fab shop with an ironworker and get them to punch some holes in sheet & steal the drops.

if u have a pedestal drill make your own using a hole cutter without using the center drill

I had to do this once. Not sure what size pipe it was but I went to the local engine rebuilder and got a load of core plugs. Worked a treat.

Chunko, I shall give this a go later, probably cheaper than buying 25mm mild discs or cutting them myself

I have clearance from the Treasury on this one.

I wrote to them to see if I could get myself busted, thinking of the publicity

it is great fun to present the letter to the pompous old fool in the flat cap who seems to visit every single art exhibition.

I admire you for the letter, few would bother. Usually because it brings down jobsworths on your efforts.

Whilst the 2p trick did work I'm not sure its a long term solution.

a. takes more amps to melt than normal mild
b. when it goes it was difficult to control the weld pool and you have to move really fast
c. it makes a lovely green glow

Not Yet, but I have a feeling they might be a little expensive. Im there on Friday so will ask.
