Magnetic steel holders

they seem the Ideal solution to growing a a third or fourth hand, any feedback appreciated

Some people don't like them but use them when working on roll on containers, the downside is always getting the swarf off the damn thing

They can be useful but as said above, getting the swarf off them is a PITA

Use em inside a plastic / sandwich bag then the swarf just falls off

If the magnets are close to the area you want to weld they often pull the welding arc and make it wander.
