Satin black aerosol?

Engine bay needs sorting out so I'm gonna spray it satin black.. anyone recommend something better/cheaper than hammerite? I will probably put epoxy primer on the rusty/pitted bits after cleaning them but I could d with not having to prime the whole bay.. if possible

Any recommendations?

Personally i wouldn't use an aerosol, I would use 2K black with 30% matting agent added.

Yeah Ideally I would do the same.. but I am doing it on the drive and don't have very good co-ordination so I reckon if I tried to use a gun I would just end up covering everything ever in paint! Maybe if I were to use a really small gun..? Hmmm..

To elaborate further I just want it to be mostly the same color without having to take everything out of the bay..

I have a job coming up that needs to be matt black and I have been wondering if I could buy 2k matt black, Please could you expand on what this matting agent is please? I use and have some here, Lechler 2k Commercial Gloss Black, does this mean I can just buy an additive and add when needed? Thanks

Marc, try Middleton Panels in Hempsted. They will mix the paint with matting agent for you. I think 30% is a bit excessive though. You only want to take the shine off it to go satin. Take their advice when you order.

I'm not a fan of them to be honest, I don't like how you get quoted different prices on different days, and when I have phoned them for advice they have not been overly helpful. ..... I get all my paint supplies from Jackie at JP Supplies in Stonehouse, have dealt with her for many years and get a really good service, she is very helpful and even delivers for free(I'm just around the corner form Middletons)

Yeah, do that. The business is run by two women Shelley and Jackie, they are both really helpful and have both have sprayed for years too, so they know they're stuff from experience as well as selling it. Another benefit is they are the local Lechler stockists and I do like their products.

You can have it mixed for you or buy the matting agent and do it yourself.

One of the small HVLP 0.8 guns would be ideal for your job, about £11-12 on Ebay
