And the broard arrow: Bloke from my school went up to the MOD for an interview. Proudly showed us some bog paper he had nicked from the loo.
It had broard arrows on each sheet.....

Pressure relief on engine driven compressors is usually done by opening a spring loaded valve at a preset pressure, the air from the pump then bleeds to atmosphere.

If the engine is fitted with a centrifugal clutch there might be a device for dropping the revs to tickover at the set pressure.

Google "pool petrol". This was the petrol available during WWII, I doubt whether it was up to 4 star standard

If you need any parts for the engine, try Meetens (www.meetens.co.uk). I've used them a few times now, and they've always had the bits I needed.

Thanks thats a handy link i can see me needing a few parts for it and definatly a new exhaust as the remains of it are just about hanging out the side of engine.

The pictures a bit hard to see untill ive cleaned it up a bit but could this be what you are talking about to drop the revs

Dropping the revs (if that's how it's done) will involve a linkage from some device fixed to the tank, or a pipe from the tank to somewhere near the throttle.

A few years ago those cans were going for £15 a time. I'm sure you'll find one on Ebay or at an autojumble.

thats just the engine Governor set up look like it's adjustable low revs lift up high revs
