And the broard arrow: Bloke from my school went up to the MOD for an interview. Proudly showed us some bog paper he had nicked from the loo.
It had broard arrows on each sheet.....

That's so the squaddies know which way up to use it.
Pressure relief on engine driven compressors is usually done by opening a spring loaded valve at a preset pressure, the air from the pump then bleeds to atmosphere.
If the engine is fitted with a centrifugal clutch there might be a device for dropping the revs to tickover at the set pressure.
