One of the apprentices at work recently did a welding course and was telling us how half the course seemed to be H&S, PPE etc.
So today he is given the job of welding some brackets for a job, saw him setting up and pointed out his designer bright blue & orange nylon topped trainers were not the most appropriate footwear for welding!
Half hour later he's now wearing boots but only got a tee shirt on as he thought bare arms would be OK as he wasn't doing long runs.
Made me wonder how much of the course had actually sunk in.
