the T frame would have to be underneath as thats where your axle will be, but as you would be using a draw bar the hitch height issue is not a problem anymore

i would maybe go for 4mm on the draw bar, but im always over cautious dont like things to fall apart
Yeah sorry just read that back it will have to be underneath. So say the draw bar is 3 ft for ball to start or wheel chockes then say the bikes are roughly 7ft where would I mount the axles to get good cog do you go from the ball to end of trailer or from the end of trailer to the wheenl chocks most of the weight will be 40/60

i think you would want the bulk of the weight over the axle, maybe slightly nose heavy

check for any play in the joints and re-new the bearings for reliability and fit a spare wheel

looks like thats been done when forcing the angle to meet the trailer due to the frame not being level
Right iv official bought I s#%t trailer should of just built one in the first place, I might try sell it and start with brand new bits all I really wanted was an axle and I could work from that but didn't know what axle I could get from scrap yard that was worth having,
Thought this was the best option buying a semi decent one and refurbing it.

axles need springs. indespention units dont use box section for axle and drawbar angle for the rest

Those suspension units would be my main concern.
When they first came out many years ago they were only sold by 'Indespension' which was the manufacturer and their trade name.
After a while others started appearing on the market made by Towsure and a couple of other names, most of these were made to the same standard as the originals.
They have a failsafe, in the event of collapse they stay in one piece albiet at a weird angle.
In the 80's similar units started to appear that looked identical and even painted the same colour, these were made abroad and had no failsafe, they also failed well before their load limit was reached, we replaced scores of these units and when you saw how they were made and the quality of material it was scary stuff.
Check them out.. if they fail, your wheel, hub and unit shaft can part company with the trailer... not a pretty sight at 50 mph.

I always use the figure of 16" from the ground to centre of the towing ball. Measure the ball on the car first to ensure it's roughly that.
However with this trailer I'd sell and start again from scratch.

Had a look around today I can get 50mm box section 2.5mm for under a fiver a meter, but would that be strong enough to hold the bikes can only get 4mm in 7 meter lengths and I can't pick it up.
After talking to a few people today they were obsessed with the axles being true which I already know how hard is it to get the axles bang on.
This is if am going down the route of building my own.
