Lovely job!
In a different league I've got the same bandsaw as you.
That machine is in lovely condition, I wonder what it was used on at Hawkers? Probably bought in to drill two holes in the widget held in a special jig for the upper thrust trunnion on the TSR2!
.

Oh by the way having one clarke bandsaw is bad enough but two is nothing to be proud of![]()
The first one has been tweaked and works well now, the second one is to be converted into an upright bandsaw with a 3rd wheel.
No coolant as yet, on the todo list.
Surely the chuck taper sticking out of the spindle isn't fixed? If it was, then it would be easy to trash an expensive spindle.
the spindle on my churchill has a jacobs taper on it direct its 55 years old and verry acurate with no wearSurely the chuck taper sticking out of the spindle isn't fixed? If it was, then it would be easy to trash an expensive spindle.
...theres a chance it could come loose thats why morse taper in never used on a milling machine because any side force will loosen it.

That's a new one on me. Make s a lot of sense I guess.
Plenty of milling machines use morse taper - with a drawbar. I have one such.
a kennedy hacksawmorse tapers a ok at lower speeds but if anything is slightly out of ballance theres a chance it could come loose thats why morse taper in never used on a milling machine because any side force will loosen it. anyway i'd much rather use the small saw than the bandsaw. when you're using the bandsaw you set it running then walk away but with the little one you've just got to watch it cos it makes me smile every time
they were made brand new for 75 quid.theres been one floating around at autojumbles for the last 6 month getting bought and sold i paid 75 quid for it apart from some paint and a new chuck of ebay for a tenner thats all that has been done to it , and one new beltnever seen a churchill looks like a nice heavy drill and no doubt very well made. how many clarke bandsaws will still be going strong after 55 years i wonder
