Pipe / Tube Benders

Slightly off topic here, but need some help.

Where can I buy a Pipe or Tube bender capable of bending 5/8" and 3/4" Hollow Mild Steel ERW Steel?

I have bought a Sealy 12 Ton hydraulic bender which comes with 6 dies etc, but it kinks the pipe if I go over 40 deg. The smallest die in the set is to suit a 20mm tube.

Any ideas?

For those smallish diameter tubes you may find that an electricians conduit bender will do the job - it is a pull type which will reduce the tendancy to crush the tube. I think that the conduit is 20mm which is close to the 3/4" you are after..... just a thought....
Not sure if it it true but I have been told to keep the seam on the inside of the bend if possible....

I think these also have a straight former that rolls round the die and supports the pipe. I have bent 1/2" BSP pipe with one quite successfully.

Interesting, I've heard of filling the pipe with sand idea before, but never putting it in wet, which does actually make a lot of sense - good one.

the sand idea works but I also have not done this wet.
You must have the correct die not use one that does not fit as it will squash and kink.
for small ERW tubes I have used the smaller benders (for copper pipe) that plumbers use as these draw the tube around the bend and do not put a presure in the bend causing it to bend.
if you had a lot to do I would advise you made your own I had a job that needed 2000 bends on 1 1/2 inch ERW so I got a local engineer to turn me a former and a roller I then bolted a plate to my bench and fixed the former to it then made a fork that pivoted on the center and put the roller in the fork on bearings drilled a 40mm hole through peice of 80mm Square welded that in to hold the tube it worked fine with good resultsand only took about 10 days to make the tool and do the bends.

I take it is thin walled erw tubing.
using a hand bender you will find it hard going if not at all you manage to bend it.
you need a free standing bender ,like hilmor or other.
the formers need to have a deeper wall so that the tube is near flush.
having this will stop it from getting deform as you are experience now.
I know- I have been bending tubing for over 7 years now and still do.
Gordon Stephenson can confirm this as he has been to my house once or twice.
