Mine has a slot at the front to hand crank it. Surely you would need to get some speed up to get a diesel to start?...

try cranking a twin lister diesel with a 90cfm v twin compressor pump coupled to it direct when its coldCirca 200 rpm - maybe a world's strongest man feat when it comes to the UK?
thats what appens when u employ cheap foreign labourdiesels do get addicted to easy start some more than others.
i've re rinnged countless engines often you can just clean the pistons up, hone the bores fit the new rings an your good to go.
found that easystart seems to snap rings and sometimes crack the pistons, had massive problems with all the small diesels on one farm when one of the lasy polish just started useing easy start on everything.
got to the point that some of the pump engines were inpossible to start no amount of fire and or easy start would get them to go, even got to the point of starting them with a rope wraped round pullys and tied to back of the truck was inpossible. 500 hours and ****ed
easy start is now under lock and key i also throw heavy things at anyone who asks for it
