Chunko, yes it's a burnt toast and glue special...
Allegedly they're 29" at the outside diameter, the rims themselves are a 700C size. Seems to be gaining popularity. Apparently 27.5" is on the way too, just to make maximum confusion in the biking world.

To be perfectly honest, I'd rather it was 16 here too. The only positive was that I live in Wellington and Auckland has had torrential rain - a bit like Brummies laughing at Londoners.
My biggest present this year (apart from playing with the kids' toys) is having some time in my workshop. I've nearly got my Clubman Estate back on the road legally, but drove it to the shops for the first time in 12 months.
Next project is a coffee table followed by a camping trailer. Bring on 2013!
Okay, I've probably got a pink shirt and tie somewhere, but I think Chunko's hair looks different.

Guys I have had all those conversations about bikes.
My mates dad was browsing some mags and said indignantly 'who on earth would spend £2500 on a bike'.
My pal pointed at me. Cue hilariously defence by his dad.
700c? what is a 'C'. Wheel sizes do my swede in, I have measured up my supposedly 26" wheels nowhere near, then we have at least 3 sizes of 20" wheel..
Caebon fibre? still burned toast and glue though. I has probably improved over the years.
Pointy saddles? I chopped up my leather bike jacket to refurbish my Flite, and had a blue bum for months when it rained.
is this turning into a cyclist rant?
Back to seasonal stuff.
Wifey bought me a nice little Nikon camera for work to replace the crap one i bought last year, a deadly dull book about Reagan and Gorby and the cold war and a Gil Scott Heron CD.

Chunko, best place to read about sizing is to look at 29er on Wikipedia. Basically should be a 622mm diameter rim for 700C or 29" I think that is the diameter of the seat for the bead. Reason for the variances in OD are said to be down to different tyres.
I'm wondering if road tyres will fit for a giggle.
Carbon, bit of a weight saving, but the feel is loads better compared to the aluminium version. It was one of those moments where when you got on the bike it just "felt" right - often I find that's price independent. Just not in this case... :-(
Now looking at rock guards, seems you can damage one of these frames expensively without.
