Seeing as there was a bit of interest in the projects thread all other work is on hold as I work on this:
So that's the body shell, engine, wheels, mudguards and grill taken care of for the princely sum of £20. Composite chassis coming next courtesy of the Father in law and some MDF. Starting point getting the grills separated from the mudguards, just need to chop and shape those.
The Prototype is very popular in the household at the moment.
Project is based on these for those interested: http://lightning-cars.co.uk
Now have nearly all the fixtures and fittings to get it as a rolling chassis:
Also sourced some headlights - they're dynamo ones so it gives a few options for how I illuminate them.
MDF for the chassis - now built
Initial testing of the driving position indicates need for an adjustable pedal box and seating position. These things are supposed to be good for up to age 5-6yrs, so we'll be looking at up to 4 years of vehicle development.
Next job is building up the steering rack and axles... Plan is to get it into paint early December and then for delivery to it's registered keeper over Christmas. Grandfather Mac was responsible for chassis production, Grandfather B is responsible for paint and finishing and I'm doing everything in between
