No rent gas - Croydon area

Hi all,

Im teaching myself to weld at the moment and Im looking for a no rent gas bottle in the Croydon, South of Greater London area.
Ive got a couple of disposable bottles at the moment but I dont think they will last too long and I dont like the idea of disposable steel bottles, seems very wasteful.

Ive found the Adams gas website and they will deliver to this area but Id like to find somewhere more local so I can loose the collection and delivery charges.
Ive seen the volkszone offer but dont know how much Ill need yet so dont want to go the rental route. Or is the offer so good that I should go for it anyway?

Does anyone know of a gas company anywhere round here?

Try looking for scuba diving places near you, they do refills and cheap too

You could call Jayar Car Parts, they have a branch in Croydon and do Southwestern Gas (?). I have had Argon and CO2/Argon mix from them.

Theres nothing on the jayar or sothwestern websites on pricing, ill have to give them a call.

I think you would feel very ill very quickly if you were to use co2 or argon for scuba diving!
Scuba only uses compressed air.

Just found a company with a stockist in morden.

Not that far from me.
Interesting as the bottle comes with its own regulator as well.
No flow meter though.

Scuba only uses compressed air.

Scuba divers don't breath the argon gas, they/i use it for drysuit inflation, it has better thermal properties than mixed diving gases, like trimix.

Got prices from local stockists for Argon mix.

Albee L11 bottle 11litre includes regulator attached to bottle.
£145.00 + VAT for a full cylinder
£38.65 + vat for a refill.
Ouch....to much for me.

Jayar 10 litre
£ 109.90 + vat for a full cylinder
£ 39.90 + vat for refill

Adams 9litre but no where near for swapping so have to rely on delivery.
£91.00 inc vat for a full cylinder
£36.00 inc for a refill.
£10 delivery for a swap over/refill

Jayar is slightly more expensive then Adams but are local I can just pop in for a refill. Adams I have to wait till Tuesdays for a refill.
If you factor in the cost of the included regulator for Albee. they arnt that expensive after the bottle is paid for. But they are significantly further away from me than Jayar

Looks like Jayar are the best for me, only a little more than Adams, but they are nearer and I dont have to wait around for delivery. but I will need a regulator.
