I don't know how common the knowledge is but from this month cars manufactured before 1960 no longer need an MOT.
I have already started to see wrecks being dragged out of barns/sheds/garages, insured and taxed and then being put up for sale! The sellers seem to be ignoring the fact that the car still needs to meet the construction and use regulations.
I dread to think of the consequences of somebody buying one of these cars and then say having a major tyre or brake failure on the way home, especially as a lot of early cars have no redundancy built into their braking systems.
If you are thinking about buying one of these cars it would be prudent to ask when it last passed an MOT.
