M300 Worklight for a tenner

I bought a £10 obedient LED light with a clamp on the end, thinking it would be handy round the w/shop. It's been sat in a box pity much since I bought it, as the light only stays still if it's stem is clamped in the Verticle position ie to a table.

So tonight I had a spark of inspiration, and converted it. This is waht it looked like before hand

So I took the stem off the clamp and fitted it to a bracket I found in "the bracket box".

Thread dia was 8mmish but it soon was M8

Fixed to the lathe by one of the slash guard bolts, it works a treat, ans all for a tenner

Looks great Shox, trash to treasure with a simple modification. how has that tool storage shelf you made for it worked out, have you adapted it anymore ?

Thanks. No not touched the shelf, this work light is really the first time I've been in for a few weeks, other than to swap tools over, and store them over night. I'm on site at the moment, so no time, and can't be bothered on a night, plus no small jobs in.

i have a simlar light on a flexi just a shame its quite short as i prefer the light to be in front of the the lathe so u can see the cutting tool tip and if it was longer u can turn it backover when boring out and facing up so at the mo its an anglepois lamp

I have a large RS lamp on the lathe as well. Drifting off a bit, (but the main reason for this thread really) I was given that lamp by a mate, who works at what was MFI in Howden, someone in there ultimate wisdom, had decided the service/repair workshops couldn't have any 240v so threw loads of perfectly good kit out. I got a lamp

Very expensive one RS charge 145quid for it Plus vat

I was given this today, came off a Harrison L5. Not sure what to do with it, currently 415v-12v, might take the guts out of it and fit a GU10 bulb in it

if the bulb is only 50 watts just fit a 240v to 60va12 volt transformer there only 4 quid

That's not the original head, someone fitted a workshop lead light holder & reflector.
Sealy do it with rubber handle, used to have a big clip.
