Pole saw chain ?

Mate of mine got a Atco pole saw and a petrol hedge trimmer for €40. There's no chain on the saw. Said I could have it for nowt so now I'm looking for a chain.
Can't find one anywhere and by the looks of it, its not available.

I took it to a chainsaw sales/repairs place and the guy needed all sorts of info pitch,size, blah blah. So drew a blank there.

As you can see its almost new. Any ideas ?

I've got most of my chainsaw spares from either

Mr Solutions or Garden and Hire spares. Both have websites and also sell on Ebay. Probably worth a phone call see if they can help out.

probably 1/4 (or 3/8) micro chisel

the sprocket may have the pitch stamped on it, for width you need to measure the gap in the bar

Or probably .325. What you need is the pitch and the bar length. As above take the sprocket in and see what fits it.

Give taco a ring and ask! without pitch etc your only guessing. It could be a strange pitch as well to make you get chain loops from atco

I think Atco are kaputt at this stage. I suppose feeler gauges to measure the slit in the bar ?
I looked at the sites above and no joy there.
What about fitting a different make of bar/sprocket and then I'll have access to the chains to suit.

I know nada about these.I noticed a certain amount of adjustment via a cam type set up inc a cam style washer on the cap screw in the pic. I'm guessing chain tension.

Fair enough. They're out of the pole saw game though. Its all lawn mowers. Now that I come to think of it, I think I mailed them about 6 mths ago and they referred me to the link in my 1st post.

There is measuring gauges for chainsaw chain but most work on the basis you have a chain to measure. Will look in my origoen book and see if anything is listed

Part number

The part number for the chain is 2609390303 or you could try BQ1607031144 but remove the BQ.

Both numbers are recognised numbers, thats the good news. Bad news is it is now an obsolete part. So your options are do a bit of homework and find out what gauge, pitch and number of drive links the above number is, and then work out if there is a ready made loop for another machine that will fit, or once you have found those details go to one of the many on line chainsaw chain suppliers.

Looks like Bosch are involved somewhere along the line too.

No problem, just get them to confirm that they have the chain or can defiantly get it. The picture looks the same as the trade outlet that I use, who are supplied from ATCO, who in turn said obsolete part.

Spares Giant may have it in stock, I have used them before and got the strong impression they did not hold the stock.

I would take it elsewhere. Chainsaws and bars tend to use mass produced standard chains. Most decent repair shops keep 100 ft coils of standard chains and just make up the correct length/pitch/guide bar thickness to suit.
