if people are saying you can be infected from any site, it wont be the case, it sounds like the type of worm that was sniffing out open ports on xp a few years ago and self infecting / propagating pc's all over the place

The malware is hosted by unsafe or compromised websites and is inadvertently accessed when browsing these sites

so stay away from any dodgy sites like those offering serials, cracks and those russian mp3 hosting sites

i had it on my pc running windows 7 thrice!!turn off tower and switched back on.when it starts to load press f8....or f9 cant remember now.Anyway a screen comes up saying your pc cannot start and gives you an option to restore.You may have to turn your comp on and off a few times before you get the message but done it twice now and worked everytime.once its restored do a full scan and it still pick it up but remove it completely.The safe mode option doesnt work.plus it only restores just before it happened because id just saved a game on football manager!!!no need to pay somebody.good luck!!!

how to get rid

Automatic removal solution (recommended):
1.Go to your friend, relative or anybody else who has computer with Internet connection.
2.Take your USB flash drive / Memory Stick with you.
3.Download GridinSoft Trojan Killer installation file from this site http://trojan-killer.net/download.php and save it to your USB flash drive / Memory Stick.

4.Get back to your infected PC and insert the USB Drive / Memory Stick into the respective USB slot.
5.Perform hard reset (press reset button on your computer) if your infected PC has been on with Metropolitan Police background. If not, then simply turn your PC on.
6.Before the very boot process begins keep repeatedly hitting “F8” button on your keyboard.
7.In the window that appeared select “Safe mode with command prompt” option and press Enter.
8.Choose your operating system and user account which was infected with Metropolitan Police virus.
9.In the cmd.exe window type “explorer” and press “Enter” button on your keyboard.
10.Select “My Computer” and choose your USB flash drive / Memory Stick.
11.Run the installation file of GridinSoft Trojan Killer. Install the program and run scan with it. (update of the program will not work for “Safe mode with command prompt” option)
12.When the hijackers are successfully disabled (fixed) by GridinSoft Trojan Killer you may close GridinSoft Trojan Killer application.
13.In the cmd.exe window type “shutdown /r /t 0” and press “Enter” button on your keyboard.
14.Upon system reboot your PC will be unlocked and you will be able to use it just as before the infection took pace.
15.However, it is recommended that you now update GridinSoft Trojan Killer and run the scan with it again to remove the source of the infections causing Metropolitan Police virus to infect your PC.

Hello all
Has anyone been infected with the above scam? Takes over your desktop and locks your pc down although you can open in safe mode. Daughter was in fashion website and it took over.
Ive norton anti virus but apparently it paralyses it first and no anti virus can stop it.
It tells you uve been locked down after downloading music illegally, watching child porn or indecent websites. It uses ukash for you to pay the fine of £100, the money goes to a bank in Germany but the lock stays on.
Apparently there lifting 10k a day all over europe.
Google it if you want more info, it looks very real.
My laptop is off to a computer analyst tomorrow to have it removed, tried tips on google but to no avail.

system restore

the problem with using system restore and going back a few day is only a temp fix as it's still on your system in the files,
you need to use system restore go back 3 day a week a month what ever
then after reboot
you need to close down system restore take the tick out of the box reboot
so you system removes all the system restore back ups,
then re boot again and start system restore again remember to put the tick back in the box.
reboot again and then check that system restore is re enabled with the tick in the box

that should sort it

Can't be that nasty if he only charged you £15. Most people wouldn't even turn the machine on for that.

He works on computers and i know him personally, usually charges £60. Ur right about the code, it has the ability to change its name once your infected.

just change to linux no bother with viruses then i like kubuntu lots faster too on ancient computers (i like to get other peoples chuck outs) usually removing windows and putting linux on them sorts most problems
