screwfix holesaws

are the screwfix holesaws anygood?
need to make 2 spacers out of 5mm steel and prob will never need size again.
usually buy starrett or bosch but cant really justify extra money?

I have some of the red screwfix branded ones, and virtually as good as bahco/starrett etc.

Dont know about the erbauer ones....The titan ones arn't really up to steel cutting.

I don't like them myself but I'm sure with a slow speed and plenty of cutting fluid/compound you'd easily get two spacers cut out with one!

the cutters are fine i use them all the time. but u need a starret pilot and arbour because the screwfix ones are crap and snap and run off

Why would you want to cut round spacers out of flat bar/plate ? when its easier just to cut them off the end of round bar.

probably because he hast any round bar the right diameter and hasnt got access to a bandsaw the same as i hadnt when i made this spacer

2nd that use screwfix and ebauer holesaws and there just as good.
make sure you get the arbour with a hex chuck fitting not the ones were the pilot drill is also the drive absolute *****.

If you have the time and effort to waste and a good piece of plate then that's fine.

Have a look at the Wolfcraft ones. I have a full set of Bosch ones, but actually think the Wolfcraft ones are better designed/made.

Why would you want to cut round spacers out of flat bar/plate ? when its easier just to cut them off the end of round bar.

because its my boy making something and the plates are from skip raid he did along with sankey trailer full of stuff he got for crate of stella, from old factory unit that was getting pulled down.

loads of angle from roof supports, just need to cut good bits out, and all sorts of other bits.

few bits of 8mm steel chequer plate as well.
