2.5 cable can run 25 amps.27 even at a push
in free air 2.5mm will run 27 amps but the cable has to carry the rated current of the device protecting the circuit. In this case it would be the 32 amp MCB.
If a fault developed inside the welder it could draw a current of 32A before the MCB tripped and with fusing factor in reality it would draw closer to 40A before tripping, if the cable can only carry 27amps safely you have yourself a burnt down house.
I did though and that's what i thought you were replying to.
the closest MCBs go from 20amp which would be too small and the next size up would be 32A.
i have a big fuse board i wouldnt know anything about it lots of boxes then just a plastic pipe coming down to a plug it in a shed with big lights and things so i would thing it would be okay the box is just above the plugs so you wouldn't have to go to far to reach the welder.
okay i havent even got a mig but i hope this whole show will help somebody.
thanks everybody
so what was the point in asking in the first place ?![]()
