New Welder(Please help!!!)

Hello. I'm new here and i can see that forum is just amazing! I want to buy a welder for house use and to use it at our family farm.
It will not weld something more than 4mm sheetmetal...
Since i'm from Greece,shops here don't sell Hobart,miller etc..except if i buy it through ebay.. only european welders.

I have these 5 models in my mind
1)Telwin force 165
2)Einhell bt-iw 160 (this have extra "hole" to install tig cable)
3)Gysmi 161
4)Cemont speedy 150
5)Awelco Ondulix 161(here shops sell it with an electronic mask(awelco) as gift)

Which of this is better in your opinion? Except Telwin all others makers say that their devices are capable with schatch-tig..is it true?

are you looking for a MIG welder or arc welder tig etc

I'd look more at the support behind each of the welders. If they break, will they honor the warranty and are repairs local.

Any arc welder can do scratch-start TIG. If they have a connection for a TIG torch and a gas solenoid, than that is a big plus for TIG as the machine will control the gas flow rather than doing it manually.

I want an mma(arc) welding machine about 160A with inverter technology(not the old technology)

all they have good support,other 1 year and other 2 year warranty..They have repair shop 2 houres from my house...

I knew that inverter technology arc welders are able to do scratch-start tig...for example if i buy an 160A inverter welder i will be able to to work with TIG or it need to have the special third "hole" for solenoid(except + and - )..???? i saw at shops that they sell a tig cable about 60 euros..

The Einhell does have a gas solenoid for TIg. If you plan to do DC TIG later, that would be the best choice.

All the others do not have a gas solenoid for TIG, so you will have to use a torch with a gas valve you control manually.

I had a Telwin 160 amp with scratch start TIG. Worked fine, but should have had the HF option, which was not offered by the supplier. Used it mostly for MMA on site, but the TIG side had torch control, but no gas valve other than the one on the torch. After about 6yrs, it suddenly quit and nobody was pepared to fix it. (this was before I found this site. Ashley Arc probably could have fixed it)

you are right,it's the best of the 5 machines for tig use.Einhell is a german company and i believe and its construction....(if company was not sure for its product it will not give 2 years warranty !!! )

yes,i am from Greece..Telwin is famous here..and 5-6 other makers' products...
they sell only in Athens,as i have seen,and Esma welders,but iff someone want american welders such us Millers,Hobart etc must buy it online...but if i have a 2 years warranty from an american shop,and i have to send it to repair,it's a little a bit far!!! What's is your opinion about Cemont???

best duty cycle comes from gys & there would go my vote from the list BUT if i wanted to do tig work i would like an inverter with hf start & a solenoid, i'm from Greece too and if you search you may find more options in Greece as cebora, kempii, thermal arc, fronius, lorch ,rehm & esab that are realy good machines and keepers

I'm from Lamia.I will search for them,but why some makers give information about the duty cycle at 20c and other at 40c???

I have a lot of Friends from Crete and I have been there several times.
Cemont is favorable brand in Greece.
In Uk is under the control of Telford Group Ltd.
Actually I have use one and it is a very good kit!
Not go for any GYS stuff !
Einhell made in China no way to find a kit so cheap made in EU.
Telwin is a very good Italian brand make decent welders.
To be honest is all depend on what you try to do with the kit.
If you want it, for a DIY use and only MMA then go for the Telwin or Cemont.
These kits cannot stand near to any of Miller Linoln,Lorch... kit.
A huge price difference there and obviously quality!
So to summarize for you.
Telwin or Cemont and not buy from the internet go from a shop that you trust.Welders is expensive kit and if anything happen the expenses to repair could be severe.Not sure also if you purchase a kit from UK if the warranty applies when you are in Greece.
You will have to post the item back to UK.
Postage will ridiculous!

Hi, it was in the electronics.
A friend bought a Cemont and got very little use out of it before the wire feed stripped. Just out out warranty, and little help from the retailer.

Bought my Kemppi second hand as my first 'proper' welder. I only found out how good it was later. It replaced a hobby 100amp unit. I could use a bit more power though. It is 150amp.
