Presto kerswell taps?

Does anyone know whether Presto kerswell taps are any good? normally i would buy dormer but they are expensive in the size i need and as this particular size will only be used occasionally im not prepared to pay for dormer here

I have a few Presto, I would say they are as good as Dormer, My favourite is the Blue Wizard, the best in my opinion.

goliath taps and dies are allso good. tracy tools are about the best for price and quick delivery . i personlaly have nearly all presto taps and dies and are on par with dormer http://www.tracytools.com/

Nice to know they are alright thanks, also got some goliath and as you say they are good, came across the presto very cheap which was really why i asked as normally if something seems too good to be true...

It's worth noting,that the price on the Tracy site,is for Carbon Steel.
HSS tend to be around double the price if you contact them.

I used a friends tracy tools carbon steel taps to cut some cycle threads in 300 series stainless steel and was very surprised at how well they cut , no bother to them at all.

That's impressive.They must be better than the average.
Those "re-threading" taps you can get,are carbon steel,they'll clean out a thread,but won't cut a new one even in mild steel.

dunno what u have been buying. ive threaded a lot of stainless steel with carbon steel taps and dies
all made by dormer presto halls and goliath used with rocol cutting compund u probably bought a cheap crap set for about 20 quid a good set of carbon taps and dies up to half inch would cost 60 quid
