Stainless steel - soldering

Hi folks,I just happened on this video about soldering Rolls Radiators,

Does anyone know what flux should be used to solder stainless steel plate together. The intention is to make some new trim for the number plate suround of a rover p5b to replace the parts made from "mazak"( I think that's how you spell it) that has corroded away.

cleansiness and a good acid flux is best on stainless steel

I used to do that a long time ago, not for rolls royce but for a bespoke radiator manufacturer that I worked for, we used suphuric acid and bakers no1, and if i recall correctly, tinmans solder, there's a bit of a knack to it, holding the blowtorch or iron in one hand, and holding both the brush for the flux and the solder stick in the other at the same time, and trying not to take in a lungful of acid steam when things get too hot.

WOW youv'e just reminded me of of few words I'd long forgotten :-tinmans solder, bakers no1.
Now I understand , cleanliness and tequnique, so lot of practice for me. Thankyou both.

Stainless Steel Soldering

I've always used Carr's Brown Label flux for SS. It produces evil fumes compared with Bakers or the other acid fluxes but works well.
