Wp-20f torch

I have seen one of these torches on eBay for £70 inc postage. However it has a switch on the body of the torch and as I have a foot pedal I don't need the switch. Would this cause any issue or can it just be used as normal in conjunction with my foot pedal?

Just don't connect the switch.

It also gives you the option to use the switch when you want to use fixed settings.

With the gas lense kit for these torches do you need special collets or do the standard collets for this torch fit?

Standard collets will fit. Only the body and ceramics are different.

Have a look at the shop-river listing on ebay and you will see that there are separate items sold for each size although I have just swapped the collet and tungsten in mine for the easiest a lot of times. WP9, 20 and 25 use one type of fittings and WP17, 18 and 26 use another.

Thats where i just bought my torch from and that the reason i ask the question because i dont want to buy 3 bodies when i only have top buy one. It seems a bit odd to me that the gas lens body is a different size when the collets are all a standard size external diameter.

I am still not 100% sure on this gas lens thing. I know I want one but I don't know what size I should buy. If I can buy a gas lens suitable for 3.2mm and just change the collet size to use a different tungsten then that's obviously the way forward rather than buying 3 different gas lenses. can anyone verify I this is possible or if I will need all 3 different size lenses.

Ok, thanks bud. So I'll get the 3 different sizes. What's the idea behind the different length back screw caps?

A short back cap will let you get the torch into places that med and long back caps won't while a long back cap will accomodate a full length tungsten...

It seems a bit odd to me that the gas lens body is a different size when the collets are all a standard size external diameter.

They aren't, or at least the 3.2mm ones are a larger OD. While you can often physically mix and match a smaller collet in a larger body the contact area will likely be a bit pants compared to a matching set (think leccy and cooling) and for those that have to do everything up really tight it'll be easier to damage the collet
