Painting gates Q's

Hello all.

Due to a shockin lack of work, I'm taking on anything I can get my hands on these days. I've quoted for a paint job on a shop front and 2 sets of double steel gates. The more I think of it, the more I think I may have under quoted.

I'm going to stick to the price (labour only) but I think the owners are looking at Hammerite or similar.

Each set of gates are about 4mts x 1.5 high and have the usual dec iron spikes on top (finiky). They are hot dipped galvd and have never been painted before. No rust either.
They're in a tunnel so not exposed to weather.
Any tips lads ? I could borrow an elec spray gun if that is an option.

If I have to use Hammerite primer that will kill the job price as thats another day. Can I chance a good scrub up and 1 coat of Hammerite ?

all the gate firms round our way paint the new galv with manor coatings plasticoat no prep neaded and can be sprayed or hand painted direct no primer needed hammerite will just peel after a while

If they supply the materials, and it means another day, then pay for the additional day don't they?....
Make sure it's agreed up front mind

I hate upping the price after I quote especially as I'm meant to know what I'm talking about I prob could spin it but there is a lot more work to come from this so I'll learn from it and take the hit.
Beats watching Countdown anyway (or does it mmmm.. Rachel !)
I'll be ok if that plasticoat is a runner.

That doesn't show up on the Irish Hammerite site but I found a few places selling it. Looks ok. Ta for that.

from the main galvanizing company in Dublin. I'd say its mad dear but I'll let the shop owners pick the one they're willing to pay for.

before i paint any old/new galv surface i apply etching solution with a hand held plant/garden sprayer then wash off with water,you can then apply any paint,cheap & v.effective.

havent got time to sift through all their stuff , but prontopaints do alot of industrial type paints that might suit , its fairly cheap too for a big can
