Vertical left to right butt technique?

I've spent the last couple of nights practising vertical up and i'm proud to say, i am getting there with them! (Doesn't mean i don't need to practise hard still!)

I've been using a curved 'xmas tree up' method and its really coming on well,
Its just occured to me though, what method would a vertical left to right butt weld require?

Vertical is up isn't it ? Left to right would be horizontal.

I've been practicing horizontal open root welds. For the root pass, I've been aiming about 30 degrees horizontally, and angling downwards maybe 10 degrees (pointing upwards), and then going straight along the gap with my stick stuck right in to the gap. For the filler pass (and I've no idea if this is a recognised technique), I've been doing a weave, holding at the top, then moving down and forward fairly quick before moving back up and back a little bit and holding again so that the weld sits on top of the bottom bit, just a touch!

Yeah, i mean the workpiece would be vertical, but the join runs left to right rather than from top to bottom, Hope this clarifies it

That position is horizontal vertical, ASME designation is 2G, depending on your plate thickness its usual for open root joints to be prepared by beveling the top plate and leaving the lower plate square, or at least with a minimal bevel, it will act as a shelf to support the weld, you would then root using a smaller electrode say a 2.5, and cap with a 3.2,
