Parweld Torch

I've just got one of those Parweld torches from Weldequip and I must say I'm very chuffed with it. Up to now I have been using the Binzel torch that came with the Portamig and that is very rigid at the torch end - fine for straight runs but not particularly handy for twisty stuff. The Parweld torch is much more flexible at the torch end which is going to be a lot better for my sculpture bits and pieces where I'm often trying to weld around corners, tubes and the like. Obviously I can't comment on the durability of the new torch - only time will tell on that.

We use the Parweld torches at work and they seem to hold up fine.

Well... as fine as you can expect with mainly monkeys hanging off them.

Sounds like a similar idea to the Parweld - not sure what model my old Binzel is but it's pretty much rigid!

Well with me it was slightly different, I was used to the big Toughgun torches, and the came along the slimmer longer Parweld Torch xp8

Took a bit of getting used too, the fancy rubber grip was the first to come off with the heat from the gun, that didn't last a couple of weeks The metal Clip near the trigger is the next thing to fall off

But i'm impressed, and its seems a decent tourch, The trigger on mine has been replaced about 4 times now in 6 months and the ceramic gas difuser is crap as they tend to break when you hit your tourch to get the spatter out of the nozzle (Come on who dosn't do this )

The Tips are massive almost twice the size of the tough gun, a fair weight in copper for the scrappy, i save all mine

at £1.44 +vat each they are not cheap

Just had one from him 2 weeks ago, excellent maneuverability, my old team binzel one was really stiff to use compared to this one, good price too nice one Steve, just talking of torches does anyone know where you can get either longer tips or shorter shrouds for the mb25 torches....?

do you not own a hacksaw and file?! haha I think rapid welding sell a couple of lengths of contact tip

I can actually go one better.....turn the shrouds down in the lathe, but that's at work.... spent a few years working in the states and got used to the longer contact tip stick out, which I really did find much better and more maneuverable than having a big assed gas shroud in the way all the time.

yeah I have one standard shroud on my mig and one that I've cut down, so that the tip just sticks out, I find it better for some thin work and getting in to tight corners but I like the normal one for some stuff too *shrug*

parweld are good enough torches but going by mine which is only 2 months old not durable enough im afraid. You will find the trigger starts to play up. Ok for the diyer but hopeless for constant use

I've had 4 new trigger switches in 6 months

The only time I had to change a trigger on a Binzel torch was due to this.....

On the whole they're pretty good, but we do have a couple of welders that can wreck anything! they work on the principle, it's not their property so it doesn't matter they get through a lot of air tools too.
