Hi im new to welding and im looking to buy a Clarke MIG 145 or Clarke MIG 151EN for some car body work. Are these welder any good and which one would be good to start with?

Hello scottmavy, and welcome to the forum.
They're both ok, and they'll both weld cars, obviously no good if you're thinking of getting into bridge/ship building, though!
I'd go for the larger of the two, using the "as many amps as you can afford" rule, as you'll no doubt find many more things you want to weld, other than your car.

to the forum, I'd go for the 151, got a 150TE myself. I think the 145 is one of the recently introduced models built down to a price.

Ha, I was too lazy to look it up, just assumed it was one of the older ones they'd stopped making a while back.
Still haven't looked it up,(still lazy!) so I'd go by the assumption that robotstar5 is on the money.
I'd still go for the bigger one, though!

Yeah, get the 151EN. Better for thinner metal - goes down to 30 Amps - and a bit better for thicker metal too. Overall a better machine.
The 145 only goes down to 35 Amps, so a bit more tricky learning to weld thin metal with that one. And only up to 135 Amps, not 145, as you might think.
