I was asked by my dad to weld some boards on his plough as they had broke in two. They are mild steel and about 7-8mm approx in thickness.
I turned my welder up near its top settings (Portamig 215) and i had the wire set to about four. Bear in mind this was a rush job and I didnt have any time to prepare. My welder was snagging. The wire was siezing in the electrode tip.
I am presuming I had too much wire feed. The problem was pretty much resolved when I put some anti spatter spray....
Is this a common fault associated with an excessive feed?
Im just asking for peoples experiences.
Thanks for any help!
