Little confused with Primer

Just a little confused so hopefully I can explain it right.

Going to be spraying a Steel Petrol tank and ABS Plastic side panels soon. Easy enough so far.

Because the tank is old, I think it's in very good condition and it has 20+ year old decals on I am going to take it to bare metal just to make sure it's good.

Going to spray 2K High Build primer, Base coat & 2K Clear.

Was going to buy a Spray can of Acid Etch, U-Pol maybe ( lots on the market ) Just to give a light coat for the bare metal before the 2K Primer goes on.

Will this react? As in the 2K primer react to the Acid Etch primer? Is standard 2K High build primer fine over bare steel?

yep should be fine ...and a suitable plastic primer on any bare plastic

Was just checking as I like to be 99.9% sure of what I am doing before I go and do something, snooper has been a great help and my last job came out quite good.

I was reading on the interweb that Celly over 2K is ok but 2K over Celly etc can react so was not quite sure what is in these Acid Etch cans.

Reason for using a spray can is for ease of use, cost & time. All the metal bit's I will be spraying are small and one can should do everything to give me adhesion for the rest of the paint.

Last time I sprayed I set up a large area in the workshed BUT this time I am going to knock together a simple spray booth like what the Airbrush guys do but big enough to do a single tank then a pair of panels at a time. Will be able to knock up an extraction & also get heat in the small'ish area nice and easy.

Probably going to order paint in the next couple of days, Hugspaint so far looks to be the most reasonable for cost, used Jawel last time with no complaints. Phoned up my local and they wanted over £38 + Vat per 1L of Base Coat, even if it is better paint I wont notice any difference being a beginner.
