Yikes! I paid $160 for the 2-ton folding hoist with a free leveler.

The 8-ton RAM allows it to be close to the post. At full extension it is a 16:1 ratio. Can lift an engine all thw eat to the ceiling in my garage. Was a big help on my Jeep. Was able to lift over radiator if needed.

I doubt you could build one cheaper.

When i built mine it made more sense to hire one when you needed it than to buy one

(now if I can get one of those long 8 ton jacks mmmm)

I had a look on eBay and found that one, it looks good too

but when i took some measurements i found that my home made one has almost the same range of the lift and reach of the engine cranes that you can find on sale today

so I’ll just clean it up and give it a good coat of paint

it's done very well so far

Did you see in the advert you copied for us that it was 187.99 (pounds sterling) and another 17 odd (pounds sterling) for the leveller?

For most gear the exchange rate is at least 1 dollor = 1 pound !

You're lucky to live in a country where equipment is cheap...

I paid $159.00 in 1997 or so. It is now $149.00

Given the exchange rate, it is about 120% more over there for the same thing.

the engine in my citroen bx has to come out at a very steep angle
