Hi,
Anyone that own the Makita 9565CV?
Any feedback ?
I'm guessing not - they'd most likely have stepped forward by now.
Anyway, all this obsessing over what to buy is verging on unhealthy.
Eventually the time comes when you'll have to make a choice one way or the other.
I'd personally have no qualms about buying a Makita or a (blue) Bosch grinder, even after taking into account everything others have said, from whatever point of view.
That's the thing, they're just points of view, or opinions, if you like. If you search long enough, you'll be able to find someone with a bad experience or opinion on any tool, but these opinions are just that, opinions! Some will have already had a pre-conceived idea about a certain brand, others may well have mis-used/abused the item or tool in question, but as you weren't present each time the tool was used, you'd never know.
There will also be countless other reasons that none of us can even begin to guess at.
In the end, you'll have to make that decision on your own, just go ahead and take the plunge. After all, the couple that you seem to have narrowed it down to are both well known to be pretty solid makes, and you're unlikely to go too far wrong with either.
Also the other obsession over where it's made is just as bad. In the end, who cares where it's made, so long as it works well and lasts for a reasonable time, given it's treatment and type of use it's being put to. If you eventually do get around to buying one or the other, you'll be able to form your own opinion on the tool, and buy accordingly the next time, when it comes to replacing the item, or even buying another one the same!
Anyway, as usually happens after having bought the item, you're only going to find the same tool at a lower price than you paid for it, at which point you'll feel a tiny bit stung, regardless of how much you like or dislike the tool/item. These thing just happen!
I'm not always the best at making choices myself. I've even been known to toss a coin to decide which way to go at a junction. But usually I'm already lost by this point anyway, so don't really have much to lose. If it's more complex than two choices, maybe try a dice instead - that works too. (Luke Rhinehart - "The Dice Man")
I once had a really crap volkswagen, but I've also had really reliable ones too, If that had been the first one, I might have been put off for life!
The replies you are after seem to be getting quite thin on the ground, probably due to everybody having run out of reasons for buying either Makita or Bosch. I have sometimes found that if you look after a tool they last quite well anyway. Maybe the crap ones last well just to spite me, could that be they're thinking "I won't break now, 'cos he'll only hurt his finger, I'll wait till I get the opportunity to remove his whole hand!"
Obviously, I don't spend all my time wondering if tools are capable of independent thought, but I do get the odd question flash through my mind. Kind of makes me MadForThinking, doesn't it?
An example scenario:-
I'm looking into an enclosure, and there are four identifiable items, which are as follows:-
1 Power source
2 Timer
3 Detonator
4 Explosive
The only other things I can see are wires.
If there is just a choice of two wires to cut, maybe I'd start looking for a coin.
If there are more than two, I would probably look for a dice. But I'd not waste too much time, just in case the timer part made it all irrelevant!
So, we've reach that turning point in the road, and I can't be the only one intrigued to discover what you went for, so it'd be really good to know the outcome, rather than the thread just dying and leaving us all none the wiser.
Happy shopping!
All the Best,
CJ
