All silliness aside, how DOES it all work?

Well I have been making biodiesel for around 4 years now and in the process you uses 21 to 22% methanol.
Only around 14% methanol is in the makeup of biodiesel and the rest has to be removed by water washing or evaporation.
With the price of methanol going up all the time I am starting to recover it,
Methanol turns into a vapour around 65C so by heating my bio to 83c in a sealed container the vapour is forced out the top into the condenser.
My condenser is the 5 crimped tubes 15mm x 1mt copper inside 60mm stainless steel tube.
Cold water flows in bottom and out the top of the outer jacket.
The hot methanol vapour is forced into the top of the inner jacket and comes out as liquid methanol.
I can then uses the methanol in the next batch.

Not drinking it or using it as fuel.

Windy Miller was on the ball, I had to look over the fence several times to see if he was looking at the job.
Its a condenser for recovering methanol from my biodiesel, so yes a condener is a type of heat exchanger and some dodgy home made diesel.

How it all works this should give you all an idea about bio
i dont make bio i filter then blend WVO with derv unleaded rug etc to end up with the same specific gravity or diesel my motor is pre common rail so will tolerate the blend

It will depend on the concentration of the wash. At 20% wash I'm producing about 1.5ltr per hour @ 94%

I bet yours does taste better my bio tastes like crap.
A bigger saving, well you must drink a hell of a lot 10,000 litres of diesel in 4 years at an average cost of 30ppl thats about £50 per week saving we make.

Beyond that you have to declare it and pay the excise..

Anyone can produce upto 2,500litres per yr without having to deal with either of the above
