Well this will make you laugh My 2003 Discovery 2 ES was £42 a month last year for the insurance, I've not had any accidents and full no claims.

Today they quote me for renewal and its £647.83 which works out at £53 a month which is still a bit steep. Then i read the Total cost with the installments payments at 52% APR making it £853.51 0r £74.39 a month

and thats with the Green Insurance Company, Just been on Moneysupermarket.com and got a quote fully comp, £394.30 or monthly at 1 x £78.86 and 9 x £37.39 grand total of £415.37

More than 50% cheaper and even cheaper than i'm paying now by over a fiver each month.

Thats why you always need to get a new Quote EVERY Year, It don't pay to be loyal these days, How these companies can keep in business when they send out these highly inflated quotes beats me

I think a lot of the quotes are computer generated The funny thing is that they state in their letter they are still the chepest which i guess is a false information, Plus the green insurance came up in my list of quotes £200 cheaper for the same car and everything.

I had something similar when insured with Post Office, money supermarket quote was cheaper than renewal, but I could not take it as I was an existing customer

problem is nowdays its something you need to have, the old bill have all the gadgets now to see who has and who hasn't got insurance.

I knew a guy years ago drove for over 6 months with no tax or insurance, i bet he wouldn't risk it now

This year is the first time I have ever renewed with the same bunch of rip-off charletons, it was quoted cheaper than last yr, and cheaper than any of the comparison websites.
What I have found is every month on the comparison websites, one company gives the lowest quotes around, and then next month another and so, so they spread it around, but the difference between each website can be upto 20% from the same company!!!!!!

Then there are the extras,
legal cover optional extra on comprehensive???
Guaranteed courtesy car
Breakdown cover
Personal claims handler
etc etc etc ad-nauseum

These 'extras' are where they make the money, and they dont like it when you choose to opt out, when they have given and agreed a rock bottom price, as it further dwindles their profit margins.
Insurance is a legalised con, where by they make up the rules to suit themselves, and if they find any way in which a valid claim can be sidelined and not honoured they will.
Anyway as a guide this yrs quotes for K reg disco 2.5tdi ran from 250 to 10,000 quid, just scroll down to the bottom of the list on comparison websites for the best laugh of your life....

insurance is the biggest ripoff going i changed this year as i got a better quote as i have done for the last few years one of them said what if we match it i said so you tried to rip me off in the first place, too little to late you should treat your customers better and left them.

its about time the law stopped them doing as they please
there was also the other fiddle where they give you more no claims but increased you premium at the same time.
ive also read that young drivers that dont bother with insurance are financially better off even after going through the courts they get a fine which is much lower then the cost of the insurance

i used to pay 150 quid for a 3litre when i was 18, i bet there are no 18 year old that can insure a car for anywhere near that
i paid 28 quid for a honda 50 in the early 90s

Just looked at the last on on my comparision list and its for £1978.92 or £184.43 a month

Yeah right

With such a high variation in the prices how can anyone be 100% sure that they are getting the right quotation??

Not to mention having your car seized and charged again to get it back Plus the Points and if your a constant offender its more than likely you'll be banned and if you cointue i'm sure you'll do time too.

So its a bit of a dumb ass way of saving money

Also with some companies it's cheaper to buy fully comp than it is to get 3rd party only! They reckon the person who gets third party only is more likely to claim!

It's a long story but Allianz Cornhill put me out of business with the way they settled my claim after my car was stolen.
