BOC and Volkszone - Gas Offer

I rang BOC last week to see if I could take up the offer when the bottle I normally rent from them from them runs out,Chap said No problem switching to volkzone to save money. The only bottle they offer is a Y size Argoshield light. I asked about my pure argon bottle but was told this does not come under the Volkzone deal

after 3 days sitting on my front doorstep waiting for posty to bring my form so excited, my beedy eye caught an unpleasant sight , "fixed charge for customer collection 15.66" is this applied to the volkszone deal, so a refill is 28.06 plus 15.66?

BOC used to charge this so-called "customer collection charge" years ago, and I thought it was only for people who had a company account.

You'd drive in, unload your old empty bottle for them, load up your new full bottle for them, and they'd print and give you a receipt.

Even then, we had to pay them £14 or £15 for the privilege of working for them for five minutes. It used to make me so mad!

Hi, which depot did you get this deal from?, I have just enquired and was quoted £69 for the offer all in, then refills £28 and second year rental £41. Quite a difference.

The depot is in suffolk ..I drove in showed them my account number loaded a Y size bottle and drove off awhile later got my first invoice £49..Dont think its up to the depot as invoice comes direct from BOC ..Anyway Im happy .

Got my third year rental invoice today and it comes to around £42 (£35ish + VAT). Haven't changed the bottle since I first got it because I havent't done as much welding as I thought I would but since the annual rental is still reasonable I'll keep the bottle a little longer.

I didn't have to call up or anything, BOC just kept me on the Volkszone rate.

Tried BOC Wednesday, then Thursday and eventually got through, explained I had an account but didn't know the number as I'd surrendered the gas bottle due to high rental fee's a few years back. The young lady said someone would ring me back.

Friday am rang again, as no call on Thursday, and the chap said they would ring back! Oh dear, thinks I - I'm not going to get anything for the weekend...

Friday lunch, very pleasant YL calls and apologises for the delay, confirms that she has switched my existing account to the special Hobby account, said the gas and rental for the Y cylinder was just under £70.00 all in, told me where my nearest supplier was, gave me the number and said if I needed any help to call back.

Called the local depot, P&D Engineering, Nr Tewkesbury, Glos. I can pick it up tomorrow morning.

I finally got my invoice today which came to £76, there is a small surcharge over here due to the additional cost in getting it over to the island.

this is gonna sound stupid, but what do i need to do to get on this deal? i have a boc account but just took the bottle back as the prices were gonna get ridiculas, so i need to email or phone this guy justin, but what do i need to tell him other than i want a discount? the volkzone link no longer has any info on it

I phoned Justin a couple of weeks ago, I am in the same position as yourself but have not taken my rented bottle back yet, Justin said he had marked my account and when I return the rented bottle I will then go on the Volkzone Deal.

as of yesterday its still going, emailed justin.crook@boc.com and just asked to be put onto the volkzone offer and he emailed back the same day and said my account had been updated, no paperwork nothin (i did already have an account)
oh and just for reference before i returned it the rent alone on my x size cylinder (smaller than y) was almost 70 quid alone! and a refill about 40 so this is a serious saving
