Regulator Propane Gas

Hi Folks,

Nothing to do with Mig Welding but I thought I would ask.

I'm looking for a Regulator (high pressure, Propane) and Pipe Line to fit my Gas Gun. I have a bit of Felt Roofing to do as well as some rusted bolts to get off one of my cars. I have the gun (had it from my felt roofing days in the early 70's) but dont have a regulator or gas pipe. Our local shops only have the low pressure regulators and short lengths of pipe, for caravans....but I need a high pressure regulator & pipe.

Anyone help?????????

I bought one for the same thing from a seller on ebay, leisureproductsbypost. No probs and works fine, pretty cheap and cheerful but I expected that as I was buying on price alone.

I took the tank fitting off an old BBQ regulator. Then unscrewed the input pipe of my Acetyl reg and screwed on the propane one. Works like a champ.

Propane cutting regulator, would do the job nicely, and of course has adjustable pressure, speak to weldequip or Diywelding. My personal opinion would be to never buy a gas reg off ebay, because of the safety issues.

Well, I'm dissapointed Norrie... I thought I may have been your first port of call How many you want? Got shelves full of em. British made industrial jobbies of course plus pipe & fittings, whatever length & bore you need.

Got them cheers Norrie. Can't decide if it's 6mm(1/4"), 8mm (5/16") or 10mm (3/8") bore pipe that's needed
The MIG gas regulator/kit is 'plug & play' by the way

Yes, it is fine. Propane is about half the pressure of acetylene gas.

Definitely not the other way around.

No to use propane, you must use a proper propane regulator. pressures are different between the two reg. Propane regs don't have guages on, propane regs are cheap enough pm weldequip if you need one. What do you need to use propane for?

You sure about that shenion. Mind you im very funny when it comes to gas, very dangerous stuff under pressure, hence why i would never buy second hand regs off ebay or new ones for that matter, its a matter of safety. regulators are cheap enough anyway £25 each for cheap ones from the likes of Diywelding, i would far rather be safe than sorry. cant give an ebay seller bad feed back if you get blown up by a bad regulater. All the ones on my flame gear are murex regs, with manuel reset flashback arrestors, no chance taken there, but the mig has a parweld one on

Propane is typically 140PSI. As it is liquid, the pressure is almost constant.

Acetylene is higher pressure, 450PSI if I remember right.

I use my acetylene regulator on my propane tank with my torch setup. Just swapped the fitting off an old BBQ grill regulator (those type of regs are not for welding) with the input fitting on my acetylene regulator.
