We're decorating our living room and we have baby gates up and they look a bit naff and knackered so I think gates like this should sort it out, 1down 2 to go.
Like those, good use of bought in components.
Rourkes? great people.
A thought regards the welds on the ends of the bars.
They look a bit 'stuck on' to me.
A way of avoiding this and keeping the grinding to a minimum is to make a feature of the welds, have the welder set a bit higher, and run the welds part way up the bar say about 10-15mm and the same distance away from the bottom, this gives a radiused join that flows in. Hard to describe, easy to do. Or if you want invisible welds, drill through the box frames, cut the bars so they are a couple of mm recessed and puddle weld them from the outside of the box and finish them with a flap wheel.
Making baby fences? read up carefully on what size hole they can get their heads through. I bet the misses would go nuts if you have to chop the babies head off to save the gates. For public spaces I think it says a ball 100mm in diameter must not fit through.
