Well it was educational reading though this forum and seeing that SIP's were less than universally well regarded....
I've managed to read through this lot and pick up some tips about my MigMate, whatever model it is. I have rebuilt about a dozen vehicles with my current one so it isn't like it owes me anything, but it was definitely suffering.
I discovered that the liner was liable to be worn out, and that I should replace a whole pile of bits, plus the fact that most of the bits I needed could be bought from Machine Mart.
One trip to Machine Mart in Glasgow later, I'm nearly where I want to be. Now it has a new steel liner, new swan neck liner, new tip, shroud, and wire ( I hadn't noticed the old wire reel had surface rust either ) Cost of trip was over £40, but a lot of that was the reel of wire.
I also noted on here the handy little reinforcing bracket that squares up the drive rollers - wouldn't have thought of that but it certainly works.
Anyway, two problems remain - both relate to one of the three rocker switches on the front panel. I normally used the machine on the intermediate settings on the middle rocker switch - but it melted. I jumped the input and output wires which got me back up and running on low and high settings, but now that I have fixed all the other deficiencies I'm left with two problems;
1. I need to buy a new, or good used rocker switch - anyone got one or two to sell from a parts machine?
2. When I get a replacement switch I've forgotten which wires I jumped - anyone take me an image of the wiring on the BACK of the three rocker switches on a MigMate please?
All help appreciated, but I don't check here all that often so please be patient if you post in answer. Plus I'm not sure I've posted this in exactly the right place, so Mods feel free to move if I've located this wrongly
