meaning of dials ?

Hi, i've had this MIG welder for some time but have never got it to work correctly, could someone spread some light on what the dials are ?

I've looked for manuals but have never found anything like it

Right hand looks like wire speed and left hand is probably the spot weld timer.
bottom knob is power

some welders have toggle switches for min and max, on /off and 1 & 2.
If TOP RIGHT is wire speed why does it go back 4 or forward 4 from start of 0 ?

The speed will be set automatically by the power setting switch, and the knob will adjust the speed either side of the set-point.

Hello Chris. As James has said for the controls. I have the Clarke 120. very much same m/c but mine does not have the spotweld timer. See pic. There is someone on here with the 120 with spotweld timer. If you do a search for clarke 120 you should find several post. I don't think you will get a manual cos I've had mine from new (aprox 30 years ) and did not get a manual. If you need basic setting for getting started on car body thickness metal try Power ste to 4, Wire feed set to -3, then fine tune wire feed as you try. On mine a small adjust of wirefeed makes quit a bit of difference. If you have other probs with m/c I may be able to help with info (cos I've had mine apart a few times) I have worked now in electronics for a number of years. These early Clarke m/c are very sturdy being all metal build and a Euro tourch. Mike G sunny south Bristol. Where are you in the UK?

If you change the polarity to use gasless the wire feed goes in the opposite direction so it has 432101234.

Polarity is surely changed at the welding leads, after the motor supply!

Rtbcomp Pedrobedro think you will find these older Clarke welders don't have gasless setup. There is no polarity switching/jumper cables in them (i've got the 120) Basicaly the -4 is no wire feed and +4 is max so they could have put 1 to 8 ! But that would have been to simple : )
