What JK said! The clear coat will completely hide the orange peel in the base. If you have orange peel in the clear then go ahead and compound it.
As a side note, if the base is dry enough to compound then you have most likely missed the clear coat window, so you'll need to scuff with a scotch pad and shoot another coat of base before putting on the clear. The window is usually only an hour or two, but check the data sheet for the paints you are using.
Ah ****** haha, i didnt realise there was a window time between the clear coat, well i guess ill have to put another quick coat on and see what the drying time is. I never recieved a data sheet from the suppliers but I did forget to ask ill give them a buzz and see what they say.
Thanks a million guys.
bit of an update, I rang my paint supplier and basically they were useless, they just werent interested in trying to help me so I just did a bit of guess work,![]()
I gave it one quick coat of basecoat, left it for one hour, then applied the laquer and it seemed to go on fine, think ill end up with a couple small drips and sags but im assuming the likes of this g3 compound ect should help to sort that.
Cant seem to find a spec sheet on the paint online anyone know of a website that might have them?
