coded test in london?

I'd like to know where i can join a course to get coded in London.
If someone knows it please let me know and ill be thankful.
I know i can do it in Northwest college but i dont know really the codes they provide.
If someone know other place to get coded please...

Have you already a qualification for welding? If not you will need to complete the prior courses, and coding will only be in one form of welding, ie MMA or MIG or TIG, you would need to be coded on each one

Have a look here - College of North West London, Willesden Chapter. I'd phone for a chat if I were you.

As I explained to you last week, colleges don't teach codings, they teach you how to weld, and theory.

But it looks like NW college do some form of codings, so they could be the ones for you.

I just had a look at the codings course. They do ASME IX, amongst lots of others. That's what you want.

Try Paddington tech they used to have a welding block & used to do advanced welding as well, I was going to do a coded test about 15 years ago. The guy to speak to if he is still there would be Dr R browning. I think.

The cost of each module is £100.00 (Level 1), £100.00 (Level 2) and it is possible to achieve BSEN/ASMEIX/BS coded status at an extra cost.

so i decided to do courses. i did city & guilds at northwest college

but they told me they have more to get coded so first i need to attend to a test practice to know in which level i am.

but i dont know really the codes they do i dont know if its better to go on doing it step by step the level cos after it comes the NVQ but i still dont know if NVQ is a code.

NVQ isn't a code. It's a qualification. There's a difference. Take a look at this page. It is a course that will be tailored for you, for whatever codes you require. All the codes are on that page. They will test you to establish what more you have to learn in order to get the codes. It's all there horace. If you speak to them and tell them what you want, they will tell you what you need to do.

For instance - look down the page to the ASME IX section. You might decide to code in ASME, in inert gases. They don't title it the way I would expect, but take it to mean TIG. Or they do metallic-arc. I assume they mean MMA.

Or, as you'll see, there are various other codings at other levels, for structural, steam pipe, brazing. The choice is yours.

Its only really structural stuff and pressure vessels that need coding, i would expect an NVQ in a few welding disiplines will get you a job as a welder, pending you have experience

Just to add on what Si and ID have said, codeings are incredably specific, eg if you wanted a codeing for steam pipe, it would be for a certain size and pressure with a set process, and prep and plan. most last 3 years some only 1, The codeing is only the test, an inspector comes to your local collage (you have to pay for the privlage) sets the work ready preped at a set position you have 1 chance pass or fail situation.

It depends on who and what you going to do work on. Personaly unless you have tens of thousends of ££££ of coded work waiting for you then I see little point in haveing one, A good welding quilification ABC think they are these days ,public liabilty insurance, followed with knowing your job and when to say no, should cover most bases.
