Screwfix have something similar for 20 quid. Bought one a few weeks back, very impressed, and no risk with a few years of guarantee...

Ill pass on the angle grinder,

those diamond hones are really usefull, they part from the thin plastic bases and they bend but at that price they are cheap enough to not worry about abusing them

ive a set in my work box for re sharpening carbide tipped drills polishing edges of marble and stone etc.

Seems like a good deal... but personally I would be wary of buying any tool where I can't easily find the Original Manufacturer in Google - for spares/repair purposes if nothing else.

Search for Parkside and all you find is "Buy Parkside Cheap" etc etc...

Search for Bosch, DeWalt, Metabo, Fein, Makita etc... and their websites are easy to find.

there is a 3 year guarantee on them and they are £17.99.

if it breaks after 3 years throw it in the bin and buy another.

It's a 3 years manufacturers warranty, not a 3 year Lidl warranty, so when it breaks after 1 year and 1 day, where do you take it to be repaired under warranty by the manufacturer?

That's the benefit of buying a tool from an established brand with a full network of support agents.

I bought an Aldi 100mm 900w angle grinder from Aldi 2 years ago for £13 with a 3 year guarantee-yes £13. After using it once or twice the button that you press (to lock the disc while you undo the nut) dropped off. I went back & Aldi changed the machine-it was perhaps less than a month old. I do believe (and others on here may correct me) that if they had none in stock I would have got a complete refund. I am not sure what would have happened if it had been over 12 months (like Jon`s example).

The motor seems very powerful & robust-I cannot fault that. The physical size of the machine is a little on the large side for a 100mm grinder & a little heavy mainly due to the motor size . The button for locking the disc dropped off again, and I eventually made a tool to lock it.

Would I buy this same grinder again for £13 today if I had the need? Absolutely, without a doubt. If I recall correctly it also came with a set of spare motor brushes. I only bought it as a spare machine to my Bosch. I’ve had more than my money’s worth if it packed up tomorrow.

I bought an aldi grinder once cause i was stuck and it was 10pm. Went through 2 discs and it burnt out. In the end I still had to wait till the morning.

I bought one of the 5" angle grinders several years ago, done tons of work, only fault is the body is a bit thick for easy one handed use, suddenly stopped working just this week, only needed the new brushes fitting that came with it when new,
Good tip;. if you do get any spare brushes supplied,I keep mine in the side handle and fit some sort of bung to keep them in, Don't use the handle much but it's always easy to find,

Parkside are owned by Lidl. I bought a bigger grinder last year, it lasted a week, went back to the shop and they were not interested. Googled "Parkside" and found the service agents they picked up the grinder and sent out a brand new one the next day. And that one has been going strong ever since
