I used to drive one of that pattern petrol Bedford on odd occasions when the driver was away. It went really well & was quiet. Then it was replaced by a petrol TK, drove that a few times as well, did 9 to the gallon from what I recall. Later when I joined GPO/BT in ‘76, there was a few of the early pattern Bedfords as cabling support lorries, apparently they were left over from some overseas contract & were bought cheap. These were petrol as well, which we understood was to get them under the weight limit for a car licence. Compared to the BMC FG’s they were a pleasure to travel in.How about this one?, old enough for black & silver numberplates with no suffix or prefix letter.
