Hi guys, do any of you know where I could buy some 6mm spring steel round bar ?
I need to make some custom anti roll bars for a truck

MX5 bootlid springs are about that size.

It has 4mm on there now and it’s too soft. The truck weighs 40kg, yes 40kg
It rolls excessively at speed in corners so a stiffer anti roll bar would tame it

'Spring steel' is generally used to describe flat material.

As above, 'piano wire' or 'spring wire' is used for a circular cross section.

All these materials obtain their desirable springy properties by post-forming heat treatment. They are not that special as delivered (and could be delivered in variable states, so to the heat treatment is needed to assure consistency as well).

By increasing the diameter from 4mm to 6mm, you increase the polar moment of inertia (J) by 1.5^4 = 5 times. That might be too much. As the torsion is proportional to a length to the fourth power, small changes make quite a difference.

I appreciate you weren't asking for design help, but if you can share some images of the current setup, there may be some easy wins to make it more tuneable/stiffer.
