Is it safe to cut this down (for the house)

This tree is a lawsonia cypress i think and its 20ft from the corner of the house. It's surrounded by other mature trees inc a sycamore which it is stifling that has a trunk about 2.5ft.

Is it safe to take down without affecting the foundations?

Soil is very stony here and very sloped. The garden is lower than the house and slopes away significantly.

I can’t advise on the structural issue but if you live in a conservation area you will probably need permission to carry out work on (or fell ) a tree.

Strip from low to high with a light chainsaw if you have one then topple the high part 10 toot up away from the house , leaving a nice long lever to attach a pulley set to so it can be felled easily without touching the building

Luckily the area of concern starts after the boundary of our fields so its fine in our garden.

Dropped the lot whole. One was wanting to go the wrong way so put a rope on it and it fell roughly where planned! Gardens bigger and masses of light here now!

Hahaha. I need to make myself achieve something this year. I had plans for a project a month. That failed after January! So two projects this month if I pull my finger out and buy the bits for next months project. The steering rack on the BMW will have to be evening jobs.

They are a weed species, and are best kept a careful eye on at best.
A very powerful tree, fast growing, and prolific.
You have been warned ......

As has been said by others, Sycamore = weed, took lots out at the last property, and that was only half acre plot.

If you are concerned about ground movement the general advice is 3rds, you remove one 3rd of the trees volume each year.
that for clay soils.
and a quick read says its water usage is very similar to the dreaded Leylandii = high
It does look like a Leylandii
