I'd forgotten about the seals! they tend to give a 'gear slipping' feeling due to pressure loss, similar to an expiring TC which is a common thing with the 6HP26 now they're quite long in the tooth...

Hmm. Every now and then I get a faint rise and fall of revs on one particular hill. My initial thought was torque converter but I can't replicate it elsewhere. It's steady the rest of the time under most conditions. I wonder if its these leaking slightly.

Could be - it does sound symptomatic of one of the output seals to me.

I've bought from that seller many times, they do the sump pan and oil - all genuine and not bad on price.
