Need a RTV type sealant thats Fuel/petrol proof.

My Stag is apart for the third time with manifold leaks. This is a common issue where the mating faces are not really true to each other. Inevitable die to the genius design.

The previous owner did it with the gasket and some sort of silicony goo each ride. Its lastest over 50K miles, but ultimately failed as it turned to jelly.

I have done it, twice, using wynns RTV sealer. Turned to jelly in a few months.

What i didnt realise is it everything proof but not fuel.

So the question is, what is? The internet seems a bit vaugue. Could really do with knowing from people with experience. Anyone?

Hmmm. Blue hylomar has slipped of my radar. Silly really. Back in the day on the railway, we used it on everything that could leak!

Best i go buy some. Shame its a bank holiday.

Its good stuff, but doesnt really have gap filling properties.

I've found Hylomar is very fuel resistant.
Very early on I found silicone wasn't, never used it near fuel (petrol) since then.

i used to use golden hermetite i believe it was petrol proof as well

I have a aerosol can of sealant that is oil and heat resistant. And the stuff in the can doesn't dry up.

Good at staining your hands, clothes and anything else you get it on!
I have overalls that have been washed countless times but the red stains are always there!

That's the problem, most of the rtv gear that's advertised as "fuel resistant" isn't actually fuel proof as in being submerged. We have the same issue with the ( distorted) plastic tanks on chippers, gaskets wont do the job on there own and none of the liquid sealers have any gap filling scope.

Never tried it on petrol. It's thicker than blue and non setting.

Red Hermetite is now called Hylotyte.
Cromwell still claim that they sell Green Heremetite.

Is there not a better solution than slodging up the joint?
I know the Stag had it's issues but was under the impression that the aftermarket had sorted most of them.
I have seen references to manifolds having high spots.
