Best way to press on a keyless water pump pulley?

The ever so helpful Haynes manual simply said to 'slide' the pulley on

how many spanners did it show for being a dificult or easy job

would have probably been 2 spanners when new but at 40 years old 5 I reckon!

cambelts back on and stupidly torqued up the crank bolt with pulley before putting the timing cover on

only issue now is I can't get the bolt out. Used my impact and it came out a few turns and now it's stopped.....
got my breaker bar on it and I'm really worried about snapping the bolt it's really stuck in there.

Any ideas what's happened? have the threads stretched? could the locking compound really have worked that quickly?

I'm properly annoyed with myself .....again

never mind just put on way too much locking compound! feels like half of this recommissioning is undoing my mistakes
