No photos of where it fits, but is the inlet to a pressurised water filter... that part faces upwards, same as the picture so it does not disrupt the filter media (sand and gravel)... assume the nozzles are there for 2 reasons.... they restrict and share the flow across the other 7 filters and also distribute the water across its 3m bed
