I was supposed to be working on a new lean-to on the side of the barn for a firewood store, but I got distracted and wanted to do a bit of signwriting. I needed a set of small dividers for measuring the font I was going to use on the sign, so went into the workshop and got distracted as all my measuring gear was spread over loads of different drawers in different locations. I found what I wanted but also loads of stuff I forgot I had. So I got distracted again and I'm now sorting all the measurement and marking stuff into one set of drawers, these.
I'm still hunting stuff down but so far I have this
and
There's definitely more out there lurking.
A few bits have interested me, a lot of this was my dads and I haven't been through it in and detail.
First to take my eye was this Starrett bevel Vernier protractor, complete with acute angle bit. I've never used on before but I'm sure I will now I know what it is and what it does.
Then I found these and wanted to know if they went with the other gauges when I sorted it all out,
Seems I do, screwcutting gauges, one for metric and US threads, and one for whitworth.
And this, I thought at first it was a blade.
turns out its a toolmakers straight edge, usually in sets from 2" to 6"
And eventually found a decent small divider. I found quite a few M&W but this one is a Brown & Sharpe. I've given it a bit of a clean. All the stuff needs a good going over, ideal evening job for when the missus is watching her various series on TV.
