These are my oil feed pipes for the turbo on my car.

Since the crimps are looking very suspect I decided to cut them off and replace them with clamps.

I decided on these ones for the larger hose, Mikalor Supra Heave Duty. But they don't go small enough for the smaller hose which is about 14 to 16mm.

I cut off the old clamps with this which worked pretty well.

The amount of metal left was actually more that I expected.

New clamps on

For the time being I put on some JCS jubilee type clamps but would prefer something more heavy duty. Can anyone suggest something better.

Double ear clips would be my choice, grips the rubber 360 degree with strong grip

Could you increase the diameter of the hose (with a flat spiral spring) so the smallest one fits.

AHH, just looked up single ear and see that they are they type that opens up. Like the ones I just used one my axle rebuild.

Mikalor clamps are very finicky regarding sizing. I've just spent some time trying to stop a leak on a rad hose on wifey's Pop that had a Mikalor on it. A change to a quality jubilee clip sorted it.

Cut it off. The hardlines dont look fragile I'm sure they will be fine with refitting.

Double ear/O-clips are far more sturdy than a single ear clip, however if you can't get the hose, then single ear/jubilee are the only viable options.

I was going to comment on the possible pressures the pipes will see, but having looked the photos, I'm guessing the small pipe is just the oil return, and the larger pipe for coolant, in which case the hose clips will probably be fine.

Yes i agree, not suited for rubber pipe imho. They seem over enginered if you know what i mean.

The advantage of the single ear clamps (apart from easier crimping) is they are smooth on the inside.
A double ear clamp crimps up 2 points on the hose which leaves lumps in the rubber.
Not a problem the first time you use them and they will still hold fine but if you ever need to replace it you'll need to try and wiggle the clamp around until it fits the same place.

Replace a single ear with another single ear and it will go on any way around.

As mentioned, you can also open the single ear ones up completely so idea for replacing a rusted out existing clamp as you can fit them without disturbing the hose.

I'm sure a decent jubilee clip would work fine in this application as well but they do have the possibility of vibrating loose or rotting out again.

The single ear clamps are usually fully stainless. Even stainless jubilee clips often come with a steel screw. Again, this is not a boat so probably outlive the rest of the car..

I'm not suggesting buying from demon thieves, but see here for an example.

Single ear oetiker style crimps are far superior in finesse to double ear, though their absolute load capacity probably isn't the same. The double ear rely on compression of the thickness of the hose wall to seal across the gap - they don't work well on thin wall hose or if the hose isn't a good fit on the hosetail.
