My land rover passenger seat base had cone away from the cover and foam, i just chucked it in the back and considered it beyond help. I took it out a few days ago, left the base board and foam in the sun for a few days, foam is now dry and the basboard has gone from a few inches thick to about 3/4”. i was just going to staple the cover back on, it had a lot of staples and they must have all rusted away. I found several boxes of Arrow 9/16” staples and a hand stapler that takes the arriw staples,a rigid 34 stapler. But the base if the seat, which is some sort if fibrey board us pretty ropey. i have found a bit of plywood that would be great for the seatbase, but the stapler only buries the staples about half their depth. will a bit of lubricant help or do i need a more powerful stapler?
and the seatbase was screwed to the fuel tank cover, but self tappers dont seem to be great in such soft material as the crapboard the seat was made from, is there a better sort of screw for the use?
